Biography
Simon O'Hagan has been playing the piano since the age of five and took up the clarinet at eight years old. Whilst being classically trained, he took and passed his grade exams on both instruments before travelling to the North of England to study music full time at the University of Hull. It was there that he developed his love for jazz and other popular styles of music.
During his time in Hull, Simon participated in the music society's Wind Band and eventually had the opportunity to lead the clarinet choir from first clarinet, playing music from a multitude of different genres and composers: Debussy, John Williams and Pentatonix just to name a few. Simon has also had the privalage of playing his own original compositions (for a small band, and for voice and piano) to a live audience, which have spurred his musical creativity, passion and confidence as a performer.
Since then, Simon has been able to take these new-found skills and apply them to serve his own career as a musician: he plays piano and keyboard on a regular basis, and he also arranges and records his own versions of well-known songs and pieces ranging from Shostakovich to Frank Sinatra, and from Beethoven to Beyoncé.
